[M365] Email Migration and Domain Name Change - Status Update

There have been a few users with incomplete synchronizations.  These can be fixed so please make sure all of your folders have your old email messages.  One folder to definitely check is your Inbox to make sure it includes email messages prior to 2022 (if you had any that went back that far).  Also, you should be aware the Outlook desktop client keeps less than 1 GB of your data on the local computer so these checks should be done through Microsoft Office online (https://outlook.office.com).

Although this email will not reach everyone, this is a good time to provide an update on the Microsoft 365 migration.

Overall the migration has gone well for most users.  However, there are many outstanding issues and there still some users who have not initiated the enrollment process for Microsoft 365 yet.  We're making progress, but with any project of this size, it will take some time before we have everything updated and running smoothly.  Please continue to have patience as we're doing the best we can with the resources available.

The synchronization from your old email account to your new one has been completed.  If you are missing anything please notify the IT Department as soon as possible.  We will keep our Microsoft 365 engineer engaged in the project for as long as needed, but once all of the issue have been resolved we will be closing out the project and it may be more difficult to resolve migration issues which crop up later.

Your old accounts are still intact for the time being so it is possible to compare what you had previously to what you have now.  However, we will not hold on to these older accounts for too long because the extra costs will become a burden quickly.  Therefore, the plan is to delete most of these older accounts by the end of August.  If there is any reason you need to keep your old account past this date please notify me as soon as possible.

Also, you should know your email address with the 'town.westborough.ma.us' domain is still working (and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future) so it is not urgent to change online accounts associated with this email or notify everyone in your contact list that you have a new email address.
